Sh2-157
This image shows a portion of the massive star-forming region cataloged as Sharpless 157. The gas is glowing from the presence of hot, massive stars that recently formed from gas inside this nebula. The ultraviolet light from these stars not only cause the gas to glow, but also sculpt the more dense regions (seen in yellow). It is estimated the gas inside this nebula amount to 700 times the mass of the Sun.
