NGC 6751

NGC 6751

NGC 6751, also known as the 'Glowing Eye Nebula' is planetary nebula about 3000 years old. Other wisps of gas (upper-left-hand corner of the image) are being energized by the nebula's central star, which has a temperature of over 100,000 degrees Celsius. This target was selected by Daniel Tran, of PAL College in Cabramatta, as the winning entry in the 2009 Australian Gemini School Astronomy Contest.
