Circumhorizontal Arc

This image shows a rare atmospheric phenomenon called a circumhorizontal arc. It is the result of the refraction of light from ice crystals in the cirrus clouds. The arc is seen over the WIYN 0.9-meter telescope on the summit of Kitt Peak, Arizona. The exact date of this image is unknown.
