NGC 7424
This image was obtained to detect the companion to supernova SN2001ig, which occured in the outskirts of a spiral galaxy NGC 7424. The companion is estimated to have a mass of between 10 and 18 times that of the Sun. NGC 7242 is about 37 million light-years away.
