NGC 6822 Barnard Galaxy

This nearby irregular galaxy contains a myriad of hot blue massive stars and several famous nebulae. NGC 6822 is located approximately 1.6 million light-years from Earth. It is a member of the Local Group of galaxies, which also includes the Andromeda Galaxy and our galaxy, the Milky Way. NGC 6822 was discovered by E.E. Barnard in the early 1880s.
